No pain is just wonderful. Phanton sensation, like the missing portion is still there is normal and will most likely persist for another month or perhaps for the rest of this life. Most amputees I know, have phantom sensations. Pain is another animal altogether. That does respond, to various degrees, to pain medication. It also is often relieved by wearing one's prosthesis.
