: Hi,I'm a faithful reader of this boardand I can't believe what's going on here.On the 24th I"ll be an amputee for 2 years. We all have our troubles.I lost my leg because it was ripped of of me,not from a illness and I remember the accident[i did'nt lose contisiousness].Sorry, just a little bit of my story. What I was wondering is when it finnaly sink in that this is as good as it gets, that this is my leg now and it has to do all the real one did.I work very hard every day at walking and doing things, but I get wore out it seems real easy for example I know can't stand in a line for 20 minute or longer to to do anything. My stanima is not very good and Itry to dostuff alot.Eventually it has to get better doesn't it?Thank all of you for posting your comments on everything. It has been very helpful.

I became a RAKA in june of 1999 due to a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurism which is in itself is not very survivable. I almost lost my left leg which is pretty weak now do to restricted blood flow. I have diabetes, have had 4 heart attacks, and triple bypass surgery. I am not telling you this to get any simpathy, but rather to show you that you can survive a lot and still keep on trucking. Maybe not at the same pace you did previously, but at a pace that is good for you. I have to use forearm crutches to move around, but last summer I painted the house up to the third step on a step ladder, I still drive,I go out to eat, shop, go to the theater, and when I get tired I take a nap. There are things that I can't do, but then again there were some things I couldn't do before. I have the full support of my wife and children (even though I sometimes scare them) and I don't give up.
