Has there been a culture been done from any fluids that have drained from your stump? : Has there been any antibiotic therapy? Has there been a liver panel or a kidney function test done? : My concern is that there is a systemic problem; otherwise, the other leg would not be involved. You do not mention the symptoms the other leg is exhibiting. : I cannot imagine that a US physician would not do all of the above as well as a lot more. X-rays and/or MRI studies might also be useful. I also suspect that your problem is not orthopedic in nature. : I am not a physician, but with some answers to the questions above, I might have a shot at knowing what is going on. But, my knowing is not going to help you. You need to know the answers and have a physician who will ask and get the answers to these questions. : Best wishes. Please write again with those answers. : Karen Hi Karen Thanx for answering back to me....... I am on Warfarin due to me having Blood Clots in my lungs and around my heart which was in Jan 94 and then another re-accurance 8 weeks later and in 99 I had a left leg thrombosis so now i am on Warfarin for life. As far as I know while I was having all these infections and spent many hours in theatre through them the specialist who operated on me did send something to the lab to be tested, not sure if it was fluid or muscle I was never told. Everytime I was in hospital with infections I was put on very high doses of intravenous antibiotics and that went on for around 2 years, infact the last time I was in hospital with an infection to the stump I became very ill, it seemed as though the infection had poisend my whole system and it was that serious that the Doctors and specialists on the ward didn't think I was going to live. But I did come through it in the end. I have never had a Liver panel or a Kidney function test done to my knowledge.......The symptons that I have in my left leg is..Joint pain to my foot, toes, ankle and calf. The pain that I have is just like what I was suffering in my right leg, I do know that I have osteoarthiritus in my left leg which worries me very much and it is now getting as bad as my right one did, but my own GP over here in UK just doesn't want to know. I hope this helps Karen.....Many Thanx to you Caz xx
