I too am an rak and I had a left foot pedal installed and because I'm a big guy i still had trouble until I had a rotator installed in my leg. This gets the leg right out of the way and makes for easy driving and getting in and out of the truck is alot easier too. I only tried driving without for a very short time and did not like it at all. I put myself in mock emergency situations and found that #1 my amputated side reacted first and then it was very difficult to get the left leg over even remotely close in time to recover and it really freaked me out. Not preaching at all, just sharing my experience. I'm sure with practise I would have become proficient without the left foot pedal. Either way the rotator was the best addition.
