Greetings all,I have been an AK amputee ( Left leg ) since june of 1997. Do to a tramatic motorcycling accident. It seems I did better at first and each year has gotten worse. I have never been a small person. At the time of the accident I weight around 280. Now 4 years later I am at 350. I tried to stay active and did return to work in 1998 only to have more problems. I have now not worked since Jan. of 1999. I have battle this weight problem all my life and the 1st CPO I went to said that I would have to drop down to atleast 250 or my life would never get back to normal. In a way he was right ,but also wrong, because he wanted me to fit his ablitiy to build a leg. There have been many factors in my ordeal which have gotten me where I am at now.( way overweight and not able to use my leg) But I am not giving up. This year I turned 40 and have gotten tired of sitting around, but how does one lose weight when restricted???????????? I have tried weight lifting and am now swimming. Hopefully this will get me back into the sockets I have. I can't beleive I am the only AK that is 6'6"tall and weighing over 300. I guess I am posting here to vent. All thru my ordeal I had people telling me what I should do. None of them where in my situation, but all had advice for me. Follow what you want to do,not what someone tells you. Most of us know what is best for us and how we can get the best results. Ask for help and advice but You make the choice yourself!!!Hopfully my next post we'll be about my success!!!!!!
