AJ,
They all tell you,you can do whatever you did before. That is true, but there are limitations.I have been an amputee since June of 97 (L Ak ).
I am 6'6"and now over 330 pounds. When I started I was at about 280. I was told from day one that once you get over the 225-250 mark you are very limited as to what will hold up. I personaly find it to be a bunch of bull, but I guess there are not alot of amputees my size so there are not alot of componets to choose from. All I can say is if you keep breaking the same part it is time to try something new. If your CPO tries to push only one type of component you need to change CPO's. Remember this , they are providing you a service. If you can't get them to research something else to work it is time to find a New CPO.They are not Gods, just people like you and me. Just because someone is in the limb buisness does't mean they are good at it.
I know it is hard to take it easy, especailly when you are so young and have your whole life ahead of you. I lost my leg at 36 It has not been an easy life since, but I am not willing to give up. Just be sure that who ever you pick to be your CPO is someone you can relate with and has YOUR best interest inmind. And once again You have the choice not them.
I hope this was of some help. I wish I had access to this when I first started. I am sure my last four years would have been different.
A strong mind,spirit,shall overcome a weak body
God bless and keep going,
Gerald "Chewy" Gregory
