But all who are certified, by their professional organization, have demonstrated a minimum knowledge and proficiency in the art and science of prosthetics. They are also licensed by the state. In a sense the relationship is much like that between you and your pharmacist in that both are filling a prescription written by a licensed medical physician. What's the difference, YOU chose where to get your prescription filled. How you are treated by anyone with who you have chosen to invest your money (either your own or insurance) is more a function of what you REQUIRE and/or PERMIT rather than how you are labeled within a system. If you feel that you are not being treated as you should be by your Certified Prosthetist... FIRE HIM! There are many good CP's out there who do wish to have a mutually beneficial relationship with their customers, clients, patients, or whatever you want to be called. Use one of those when you fill your prosthetic prescription. You chose, and if you did not it is because you did not understand that you could have. : Which do you prefer to be called by your prosthetist? They are not Doctors so why do they call us patients. To me they are more like your auto mechanic, gardener, or barber, in that they preform a service. Really it is not an issue, but as a patient what you say is not taken into account as much. Become a client and well to me you have all the control. What you say better be taken into account or you will find someone better.
