: Can anyone tell me if it is normal procedure to sign a statement of receipt of prosthesis at the time of casting? Julia, I have not encountered this practice...it may vary depending on your insurance such as medicare, workmans compensation, private work related insurance, etc. At the day of casting, it usually takes a minimum of 24 hours to produce a test socket from that mold. The test socket is by no means the final or definitive socket. And a prosthesis is a complete leg ( socket, frame, components & cover). Since the prosthetist is working for you, I would ask him anything I didn't understand to avoid confusion. You will be dealing with the world of prosthetics for a long time. Good Luck, Donna.
