: : I am an above the knee amputee, i am having a operation to repair a hernia. I have a full suction socket and worried about all the pulling. Has anyone had to deal with this before, and if so what did you do, i was thinking about wearing a hernia belt. Thanks mark Mark, I am also an above knee amputee (Knee Disarticulation) and wear a suction socket which requires the use of a pull sock. Over the past ten years, I have had a inguinal hernia repair on both the right and left side. After the operation, the area around the hernia repair was a little sore, but it did not effect my walking or require a belt. Talk with your doctor before you use a belt. Many hernia repairs today use a mesh screen which heals quickly and do a good job of repairing the damaged area. Good Luck
