The first surgery was to correct a defect in my GI and the second to correct a hernia which resulted from incorrect sutures on the abdominal wall and over agressive rehab (I'm a type A person with no patience). Based on instructions from my surgeon, I stayed off the prosthesis for about 3 weeks while the abdominal wall and muscles healed. Then I went back to an old suspension socket with a Silesial belt. I had my prosthetist modify the suspension belt mountings to avoid the insicions. I returned to the full contact suction socket (the type that you have to work at to don) about 8 weeks post surgery. Listen to the surgeon and take it real easy for the first few weeks.
