Quentin, I believe it really depends on the knee you have. As long as it has resistance you mainly have to ride it down. I have a c-leg and on slight grades I just walk it down but in steep ones, I ride the leg, if I have solid ground. Going up is the trick. If you can do that let me know the secret. I was in some mountains in N.Y. and found it very uncomfortable to say the least. BUT, you are not alone. I wanted to go down to a stream to fish, it was a pretty steep grade, well I didn't fish. Just have to find things of interest we can do. I was a advid runner 2 years ago. : Hi all from Sydney, Australia. I lost my leg AK to cancer in 1997. I am 40 years of age and I still have a lot of trouble walking, especially downhill. I have a hydraulic knee which helps me a lot but walking for me is a major bugbear. I get a hell of a lot of pain and I also get huge welts. I often go through the why me blues but If I could only walk I would be a lot happier. Does anyone have any secrets that they can pass on to me? My future feels bleak at the moment and I know that there are people who are a lot worse off than me. I do try and be positive but I get on a downer and I can't snap out of it. I used to play golf and tennis but that is all over for the time being. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
