I can sure empathize with your experiences. In addition to the great comments from the others, let me add this: there is a valve type (I forget the proper name - but your prosthetist should know what I'm talking about) that automatically allows air to escape from the socket whenever you stand, etc., and closes off so as to not let any air back in. I found it useful in that I didn't have to do this manually. If using valves is not an option another technique I have used is to stand up more slowly, and not take off walking right away - a more gradual pressure of the limb back into the socket minimizes the force of the unpleasant sound, making it not so loud. You can do all kinds of things while your waiting a few minutes for the air bubbles to perk up to the top of the socket, like stretching your arms and upper body, pretending to be studying something on a wall, etc.
