I'm a bk now of 9 mos., and I was pretty sure that I went thru the mother of all phantom pain episodes. But I suppose in retrospect it was about what everyone else experiences. The really tough part about it was wondering when, or if, it would ever go away. If you were sure it would, you could tolerate it. When it was bad, you figured that if it kept up like this, life was gonna be REAL long!

During the worst weeks, I too ordered a Farablock fabric. About a two foot square of pretty ordinary looking cloth. I wound it around my stump, I pinned it in a diaper sort of arrangement, I lined a stump shrinker with it.... I wore it during waking hours, and to bed. 'Could not get that sucker to do anything but wrinkle! No relief whatsoever. I think this little jewel was about $50, and it was really worthless, at least to me. Be forewarned.

I really do believe the only sure cure is time. Mine lessened all of a sudden at about the six or seven week mark, post amp, exactly as my prosthetist and every other knowledgeable person said it would! Good luck, but Farablock wouldn't be in my shopping cart....
