After reading a few responses to mark's choice ,I often felt like most people do about suicide. I feel that if you knew him you would understand, he began to understand how most amputees found the will and strength to go on, but for him it was different, he was always a unique person, one I respected and loved very much, After researching suicide I read this:
Making a decision whether to live or die is an "awesome choice" that belongs not to hospitals, to Dr's, to courts, to attorneys, to nurses or any other group, but to the persons whose life it is. That is the essence of being alive-being able to choose. The most important choice one has is between life and death.. The decision to end ones life should be a reasonable choice-not motivated by emotional reactions to what appears to be a desperate situation.
Thank you for all your thoughts and opinions- I knew Mark very well and for over a year watched him fight this all he could, he is no longer suffering.. I Know as the one left behind this was the most un-selfish thing he could ever do..
