As for swimming in the ocean I've been looking for a solution, I haven't found one. My leg guy gave me a big ugly leg cover to wear, it looks great with a bikini! He said he would take one of my old legs and just put a plastic tube on it, but I'm too vain for that. So for now I have to watch everyone have fun. One day they'll come up with something good. 3. Now the home modifications are up to your boyfriend and his needs. Is he in a wheelchair? Is he wearing a leg yet? After I was able to wear a leg I got rid of my wheelchair. I was hit by a car so beside my amputation my other leg was completely shattered so in the beginning crutches were out of the question. Some people like to use a wheelchair when they are home, I personally don't. Either cruthes or my leg. When I had my accident I was in the middle of building my house, ironically my architect is also AKA, so I asked him what changes I should make. The only thing was he changed my bathroom around a bit to make it easier for me. I don't even remember what changes he made. You might consider a bar by the toilet, oh yeah I got a seat in my shower. Other than that no other changes were made and I live in a 2 story colonial. The stairs are good excercise. Amputation is very hard, you sound like you're very supportive already being on this website for him. This site has helped me alot. It's nice to see others like ourselves. Any time he needs support from other amputees tell him there are people here for him ready to listen. Good luck...
