I only used crutches full-time immediately following my surgery (20 years ago) but I remember it was very liberating when I started using the prosthesis with one crutch. I can't remember how long I used one crutch but in not too long I switched to a lightweight cane and then gave that up too. What is it that still makes you feel like you can't go without the one crutch? Do you have the opportunity to work with a physical therapist - that might help if you can work with someone who is experienced with amputees. Good luck.
