new above the knee amputation

I have had my above knee amputation done 29 nov 2005 Had a lot of problems first of all i got a bad infection inthe stimp and had to have sucktion dressing for 4 weeks now iam home and waiting to go and have my first visit at the limb fitting center
How long does it take? and what do you think i will were first and how quickley does it happen.am 29 and very stubern and havt given up a fight since the car accident in 2003 please can someone tell me some nwes.
