I agree with Gibby, even if the knee replacement doesn't last forever it should still give you some extra time. I have heard that the knee can be replaced more than once so check it out thoroughly before making your decision. Best of luck,Jo : Hi, : I'm a young adult (early 20s) who has had severe knee porblems in one leg for the past 10 years. My docs now say that there is nothing more they can do and I am unsuitable for a knee replacement being too young. I ahve looked into this and got multiple opinions but they all have said the same. I use a wheelchair sometimes and am always in pain. I've been told that I could consider requesting an amputation. As I currenctly limp all the time my good leg and back are suffering not to mention my hip on my bad leg and I don;t wnat too shot legs. I will have to wait at least ten to twenty years before I can get TKR if I am fit enough by then. I am considering the amputation and woul dlike some advice. I already use a wheelchair and play disability sport so can face the disadvantages. I don't mind putting up with the pain and hard work a AKA involves but it's a big dicision and any advice would be appreciated. : Cheers
: Fran
