Still learning. : : : : : : Hi...My names John and I'm an Alco....whoops sorry...my names john and I'm an AKA/lefty since 1981 when I was 19 yo I got hit on my 69 honda by a 67 chevy impala and I won....I lived...since then I've walked alot of miles....Union Plumber..big jobs...small jobs...you name it....22 years...fallen off ladders...into trenchs...fallen...fallen...fallen..and got up ... : : : Luckily... : : : sooo...my 2 dollars worth...(inflation)I've tried all the sockets over the years that should "feel better" than the last one...but they never &*%$# worked...left it raw...man how I suffered........... : : : Then one day I remembered what my first Prosthesist said to me in '81' " treat your stump like you treated your foot ..fresh socks..bathe daily.."..he was a smart old geezer in his 70's in 1981 ( held my first leg hostage till he got his check...$ 1900.00) but I think he was sold on wool socks...ya i know sounds like yesteryear but it works for me ....I need to be up on my feet 10 to 12 hours a day...got to make a living...I wear 2 5 ply wool super socks with a hip belt and a velcro control belt...a usmc frame w/ a mauch sns piston and some stupid foot from otto boch that cost more than my last trip to Vegas..... : : : A c- leg my insurer would'nt touch...$2500 max... : : : kinda sad the high costs but I'm done being angry..it's useless.......I guess I'm over the amputation..it's the emotional side of life now... : : : after 25 years of marriage my wife died of cancer last year.....got a couple a kids 21 , 23...though their older their fun 2 watch... : : : soooo...any ways try wraping your foot in saran wrap and see how it feels....same as a "suck"tion socket.. : : : and oh ya...this otta piss em off...never met a prosthetist that wasn't in it for the money.... : : : why sell' em a Ford when i can make a killing on Lexus : : : good luck..god bless...keep smiling..brothers and sisters...johnny keep in touch...great to find this site
