I went thru this seeking information for my partner she is 65 years old and had her amputation on Sept 20th. It helped us by having an AKA come to visit us and talk about it, see if there is a support group in your area. We were lucky we had a woman come see her everyday, we also found a great prostetic company who are all for the patient and thier families. feel free to email me if I can be of help, because you will also need support and someone to talk to. If you contact the ACA based in Knoxville TN they will send you information.

: Hello out there. My mother (51 year old, 6th grade teacher) is currently facing the possibility of transfemoral amputatuin after 11 surgeties to try and save her leg. She has asked me to gather her some information about the process. Does anyone have any words of wisdom or advice for her. Right now she's very sad about the fact that her life will never be the same again, and I really don't know what to tell her because I know that this is true. Please help.
