It sounds like you are a very active, vital person and maybe your prosthetist just wants to offer options that will ensure that you can do everything you want to do for as long as you want to do it. Has the prosthetist given you any more information on why he thinks the silicone sleeve will be better? As an aside, I find it very interesting to hear what you're doing at your age. I'm 48 and sometimes wonder what life as an amputee will be like when I'm 81 - if I live to be that age. You sound like you're doing very well - good for you!!
