: Hi AnnZ,

: I wear a full suction socket, so I can't be of help in comparing the other set up. Hopefully someone else will jump in and give you their experience with the silicone sleeve/gel liner.

: However, I would say that if you're comfortable with using your wheelchair more often these days, than that's okay!! Sometimes switching to a new type of socket can be very exhausting and take some time getting used to and maybe you just don't feel like dealing with that at this time in your life! But, if you're thinking/hoping/wanting something other than suction that might enable you to wear your leg longer, than it's worth a try, if that's what you're looking for. Obviously, you know it's your decision, and you WILL make the right one! :) I would just go with your gut and not feel pressured to try something new just because someone else thinks it would be better for you, you have to "want" it.

: Good luck to you!
: Blessings,

I just moved to a MAS suction socket from a pin lock socket with silicone liner. I know from the little experience I have with the suction socket, I feel more in control because there is nothing between me and the socket.

With the silicone liner there is less chafing because the socket contacts the liner, not your skin. Also as your stump loses volume the sock layers remove even more 'feeling'.

I have only been a RAK for less than 1 1/2 years and am just under 40. I hope I make it to 81 and live a life as active as yours seems to be!
