: What is the difference between a suction socket and a MAS socket?

You can get different types of suction sockets. Sockets that 'attach' themselves to your leg. The MAS is a design, just like the IC socket, and the Quad socket.

I can touch my knees in my socket, I dont wear holes in my pants from sitting with my socket.

Not sure what you mean by this. Do you have both of your own knees? Or are you referring to how far you can bend down before the top of the socket nails you? The MAS is only for above knee amps. And if you aren't wearing your pants thin on the behind, then you are one of the lucky people. I have ruined almost everything I own.

I have never had a test socket made, just make the socket, put the components on it and go. In fact my prosthetist still uses the same mould for my socket that he made 10 years ago.

Wow - I have NEVER heard of that before.

When you say low trim lines, how low?

I have some photographs on my site. Take a look. You will see quite clearly how low the back and front go. http://allyrakamputee.beplaced.com

: I asked my prosthetist if he could lower the trim lines on mine some more, which he did (10 years ago) but said that was about the lowest you could go without losing stability.

Check out the 'ear'. This is what gives you stability, coupled with the hip side.

So my curiosity is what is the difference between these two or is there really any or much difference.

Big difference.

Maybe a picture to show what a MAS socket looks like. Just like an idea about something that I know absolutely nothing about.

I don't think I can post pics here - if it's possible or even if there is a space to do it. Otherwise - my site has great pics.

I hope this helps.
Ally
